They say “no man’s an island” but that doesn’t mean that man (or woman) can’t own an island.

For $78,000,000 you can purchase the most expensive property in Canada.

So, what does $78,000,000 get you these days?

The answer is James Island, a 780 acre private island off Sidney island in Canada’s Gulf Island archipelago. Complete with white sand beaches, grassy dunes and unique ecosystems, the island is accessible by private plane or boat.

Currently owned by Seattle-area business man and his wife, a former US Ambassador to Austria, the island has many impressive features including a 5,000 square foot main residence, 6 guest cottages, a private air strip, private docks, a pool house and a manager’s residence. Need to work on your golf game? There’s also an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus signature golf course.

But, man-made luxuries aren’t the only perk the property offers. An environmental and ecological program has been in effect on the island, providing protection for 150 acres of rare ecosystems.

Think it sounds amazing? See what it looks like in the pics below:

We’re not in the market right now, but we wouldn’t mind a tour of the grounds.
