MIT researchers have built a spider-like robot that might be capable of building complicated structures a few years down the road.

While the three-week-old robot dubbed CNSILK (Computer Numerically Controlled Silk Cocoon Construction) might only be deploying a yarn-like thread on a prearranged hook right now, researchers expect that one day it will be completely autonomous and able to weave web-like architecture.

We’re seeing huge potential to build pre-fabricated structures and eventually, entire buildings.
