When we think of UBC, we think of sleep-deprived university students decked out in American Apparel, and venti coffees.

But Sail, a new development by Adera, is riding the winds of change for family-friendly living at UBC, and highlighting what an awesome area UBC is to raise a family.

It all starts with the new community centre at Wesbrook place, the largest of three future community centres on campus, that will open in September 2013. The centre includes a gym and fitness centre, meeting and multi-purpose rooms (available for booking!), a teen centre and games  room, a coffee shop, lounge areas, and a daycare centre.

Awesome, right?

And not only does the new community centre have a daycare, but Sail is close to top elementary and high schools, including the new UHill Secondary School, which will house up to 800 grade 9-12 students after its opening this fall.

Nearby are Jim Taylor Park, the Old Barn Community Centre (which regularly hosts movie nights and homework help for kids), and tons of outdoor recreation, like basketball courts, and countless parks.

Plus Sail residents get to enjoy UBC facilities and perks, like the UBC Farm, which holds a Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings from May to October, and runs camps for kids.

And once the kids are grown, they can still live at home while they go to university! Not as appealing? Well, it’s an option anyhow.
