Straight out of every DIYers dreams (or nightmares), a Portland Ikea has teamed up with Ideabox to create pre-fabricated Ikea homes that go from concept to livable in just two months.

It’s an awesome and inventive option for the Ikea-obsessed who get a headache just thinking about assembling the Swedish products, but want homes clad in the frugal furniture.

The 745 square foot one-bedroom homes start at $79,500 (US), and take 8 weeks from order to delivery. But don’t think they can be popped together as quickly as a Hemnes nightstand.

The pre-fab homes are cozy and bright

The homes take approximately 2-3 weeks to assemble, and are decked out in Ikea’s finest, including Tundra maple flooring, Pax wardrobes, and Abstrakt cabinets. The exteriors are a sturdy combo of fiber-cement siding, corrugated metal, and a standing-seam metal roof.

“For those of us IKEA fans, the pure delight of walking and imagining our way through an IKEA store quickly turns to the daunting task of assembly when we get home” said Ideabox’s site. “Not a worry… When your ideabox Aktiv arrives, all of the cabinets, countertops, and flooring are installed… it’s like the best of everything!”

Ikea is denying they’re in on the project, and it’s solely a creation of Ideabox and the Portland location, but the homes are still available for purchase if they tickle your DIY fancy.
