Last Friday the BuzzBuzzHomies ventured out to Mississauga for a very important event in the city’s history.

Was a new store opening at Square One? Did the Ice Dogs win a game? NO! That’s old Mississauga talk. Events like that may have been significant for the city 20 years ago when people considered it to be simple, sleepy Toronto suburb, but stuff like that doesn’t garner attention anymore.

This was an event of a totally different kind. On Friday, the first privately commissioned piece of public art was unveiled at Cityzen‘s and Fernbrook HomesAbsolute World condo development. The sculptures, displayed at the corner of Hurontario and Burnhamthorpe, are truly international pieces as they were created by world renowned artist and sculptor Francisco Gazitua of Chile.

The sculptures feature the images of three horses in dynamic poses. They’re pretty awesome to see up close, but for now you’ll have to live vicariously through our photos. Have a look…

Every time we see this incredible building we're blown away. It's no wonder that Absolute World has garnered international acclaim. And yes, that's the building's curvaceous twin reflected in the glass. How cool is that?

The sculptures are titled "Buen Amigo", Spanish for Good Friend.

The sculptures were influenced by Francisco Gazitua's passion for horses. It's true, horses are very cool, especially when they're twice their normal size and made of metal.

Our token artsy shot; requisite when photographing any public art unveiling.

Mayor Hazel McCallion gave a rousing speech, touching on Mississauga's quaint history. She, of course, is an expert on the subject, having been mayor for like more than 30 years and all.

Hey Absolute World team, please unveil more public art because we want to come gaze at your amazing towers again ASAP.
