A report by Statistics Canada noted that new home prices in the Calgary rose in August.

The New Housing Price Index in the Calgary census metropolitan area was up 0.2 per cent from July, the agency said on Wednesday.

“New home prices have not changed much from last year and have been mainly supported by the price of land,” said Richard Cho, a senior market analyst in Calgary for the CMHC, in an interview with the Calgary Herald.

“The house component is down from 2010. With the modest level of new construction activity, there has been less pressure on input costs such as labour and materials,” he continued.

You can compare these new stats from the omniscient StatsCan with the price data recently released by the Calgary Real Estate Board. Of course, we wrote all about it here so chiggity check it out!
