Always an innovative force in the technology world, Apple is now setting its sights on building what will surely be the coolest office in the world. The 3.1 million square foot Apple Campus in Cupertino, California will house 12,000 employees and look more akin to a giant alien spacecraft than a traditional office building.
Steve Jobs announced his plan to build the otherworldly office to the city council of Cupertino back in June. Since then, Jobs has resigned from his post as Apple’s CEO, but with new details still emerging about Apple’s mothership, it’s clear that the plan is still on track.
Here’s a list of some of the often impressive new details that have emerged about the campus since Jobs’ announcement in June:
- The campus will include an office building and a research and development building that will be 2.8 million square feet
- The corporate auditorium will seat 1,000 people
- A corporate fitness centre will keep employees healthy
- Research facilities alone will be 300,000 square feet
This will be an absolutely massive undertaking and the structure is slated for completion in 2015. We wonder what marvelous new technologies will be born in this new building. The iPhone12? The iPad7? The iLargeHadronCollider? Oh, the possibilities…
Let’s take a look at a few more renderings of this futuristic office from outer space.
