With a new subway station in the works within its borders, it’s truly the beginning of a new era for Vaughan and BuzzBuzzHome is thrilled to be covering all the action as it unfolds.

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been keeping you in the loop about Expo City, the new development by the Cortel Group and YYZed Project Management that will transform more than 300 hectares in Vaughan into a new residential hub. The first phase, Expo-1 is currently in its registration phase.

The sheer magnitude of this master planned urban project is enough to convince us that this is a game-changer for the once sleepy suburb of Vaughan.

But it doesn’t end there. For the first time in its history, the TTC is extending a subway line outside of Toronto’s borders and its last stop will be only moments away from Expo. By expanding the Spadina line up to Highway 7, the TTC will be able to add six new stops with the line terminating at the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre.

Subway service on the line extension is estimated to begin by late 2015.

There are also plans to transform Highway 7 into a tree-lined avenue with dedicated VIVA Rapid Transit bus lanes converging at the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre. With all this new transit in the works, maybe the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre is trying to wrest the title of the GTA’s transportation hub from Union Station.

There’s so much going on with this development! We paid a visit to the sales centre two weeks ago to snap some shots of the scale model and model suites and we were back again last week for the big ribbon cutting ceremony. And now this thrilling addition to the Expo saga! We guess you’ll just have to check back soon for more buzz buzz buzz!

Expo is currently in its registration phase. For more information call the sales centre at 416 479 0874 or visit the website here.
