The Ontario Home Builders’ Association announced the finalists for their 2011 Awards of Distinction this week to much fanfare from the home building community.

Empire Communities racked up an impressive 9 nominations and is a candidate in all three “Prestige” categories. Low rise project of the year, high rise project of the year, green builder of the year — the list goes on…

Are congrats in order? Yes indeed!

In the low rise category, Summerlea (West) in Binbrook received an accolade while O2 in Toronto, a collaboration with Identity Developments and Stal Inc, got a nod in the high rise category.

O2‘s nomination isn’t surprising in the least as it’s been a favourite of ours for awhile. The 14 storey condo tower at George Street and Shuter is currently in its preconstruction phase and promises to be a refreshing project in terms of design and aesthetic.

Winners will be announced on September 22 at the Execaire Hangar near Pearson Airport. The ceremony will be held in conjunction with OHBA’s President’s Gala.

At the ceremony the coveted “Ontario Home Builder of the Year” Award will also be announced. Super exciting!

Congratulations again to Empire and all of this year’s nominees. We’re waiting with baited breath to see who takes home the prizes.
