The Daniels Corporation is up to something big on Dundas East between Parliament and River Street.

Construction is in full swing at their Paintbox Condominiums project with the tower now rising above the Regent Park area. It will do much to revitalize the skyline in the east side of downtown Toronto.

But that’s not all! Daniels is collaborating with community groups like Artscape, Toronto Community Housing and the Regent Park Arts and Cultural Community Advisory Committee to create what will surely be an immensely significant arts and cultural hub for both the area and the entire city.

The Regent Park Arts and Cultural Centre will be connecting with Paintbox in a variety of unique ways. Of course, Daniels was eager to showcase this exciting new development so we jumped at the opportunity to take a tour of the construction site where both Paintbox Condominiums and the Regent Park Arts and Cultural Centre will help usher in a new era for the community.

Check out the pics from our tour below!

As you can see, the Arts and Cultural Centre and Paintbox Condominiums share a special connection. The 26 storey Paintbox is offering 284 units ranging in size from 392 to 925 square feet. Meanwhile, the Arts and Cultural Centre is offering participating organizations 60,000 feet of space.
The neighbourhood surrounding this project is so important that they decided to build a scale model of the whole community.
The construction site was a hive of activity. There’s a lot to build, considering the new Arts and Cultural Centre will include space for important organizations like the Centre for Social Innovation, COBA – Collective of Black Artists, Regent Park School of Music, Cabbagetown Regent Park Museum and more!
The Arts and Cultural Centre will include a 400 seat performance/event space, a large outdoor performance court, and two creation/performance studios operated by COBA. The first floor will feature a main lobby and a cafe, which will serve as a community hub and gathering place.
We saw that crane getting a move on in the last shot, so we thought we’d follow it on its voyage.
Just to get you fully oriented, that street sign says Sackville, which will run through phase 2 of the Regent Park Revitalization.
A new Aquatic Centre is being constructed across the street from Paintbox. There will also be a new 6 acre community park landscaped across the street for residents to enjoy before or after they take a dip.
Paintbox will rise 26 storeys above Regent Park and is the second of six phases of the ongoing Regent Park Revitalization project.

Stay tuned for more information on the Paintbox Condominiums project and the Regent Park Arts and Cultural Centre. Considering the size and scope of this project, we’re sure to be receiving more buzz very soon!
