When you think of unique neighbourhoods in Toronto, the area surrounding Bloor and Bathurst must immediately spring to mind.

With Koreatown to the West, the artistic and intellectual hub that is the Annex to the East, and shops, bars and restaurants galore, this intersection couldn’t be anymore vibrant.

Well, Lindvest Properties are challenging that assumption with their new B.streets condos project. The elegant architecture of B.streets was designed by the highly acclaimed Hariri Pontarini Architects, whose past work includes the Schulich School of Business at York University, the Baha’i Temple of Light and the Institute of Contemporary Culture at the ROM.

Promising to be as unique as the neighbourhood that surrounds it, B.streets condos will have a playful, European flavour to it. You just need to have a look at this new exterior rendering (pictured above) released today to know that it’s a keeper!

“What we’ve done is created an architectural structure that introduces a dynamic relationship between this new residential building and the storefronts on Bloor,” explains principal architect David Pontarini. “Essentially we’re swapping an underutilized space with an innovative and artistic development with retail space beneath.”

The 9 storey, 195 unit building is accented with irregular cubic modules on its front. The top portion will be a creamy, light colour while the bottom is grounded by a modern gray brick hue.

“I would describe it as playful, more relaxed, less formal,” says Mr. Pontarini. “We really didn’t want a static roofline,” he continues, “but rather a whimsical silhouette that explores and replicates the rhythm of the smaller shops on Bloor Street.”

Sounds absolutely immaculate! Lindvest is really pulling out all the stops to make B.streets a fully formed aesthetic stunner. They hired photographer Tom Ryaboi to snap some beautiful shots of the neighbourhood and the massive mural on the development’s property that was commissioned and designed by L.A. Inc. is well on its way to being finished.

And now this beautiful new rendering, we’re simply blown away…
