As we reported last week, the first phase at MarketTown Condominiums [map] has been so successful that the launch of Phase 2 was pushed forward to this past weekend.

Success, as someone – probably an old time football coach – once said, breeds success. Phase 2 racked up more than 200 registrants in its first weekend and, word is, a number of deals were made as well. Person after person, we’re told, oo’ed and awe’d their way through the model suite.

Our theory is that the location of the Mady Development Corporation project has a little something to do with it. MarketTown is located on the northern ridge of Barrie, one of Canada’s fastest growing cities. More specifically, it counts both Georgian College and Royal Victoria Hospital as neighbours – which can’t help but appeal to everyone from young couples to down-sizing empty-nesters.

The Royal Victoria Hospital was founded in 1891 as ‘The Barrie General Hospital’ (it had four beds)

The project is also remarkably close (walking distance) to Little Lake, in case you’re a fishing fanatic, boating buff, swimming swan (?) or just like to sit and stare at water.
