Every so often, you hear a story that makes you say “No, it couldn’t…or could it?” This is one of those stories.

My sister lives in a small town outside of London called Centralia. On a whim, I did a quick Google search for Centralia not knowing what the expect. It turns out that the top ranking search is not Centralia in Ontario, but a town called Centralia in Pennsylvania.
Centralia is a ghost town– and there’s a good reason for it. The town sits atop a coal mine that has been on fire since 1962. You read it right– 1962. Remember that game/movie Silent Hill? Yeah, this is what inspired it.
It’s not known exactly how the fire started. And there’s still a few people holding out. It’s crazy. Check out the video below. This is probably as close as you can get to hell on earth.
