Just over one year ago we posited the question, Where the Hell is Chrome OS?.

Today, we can answer that question with a “its kind of here and is looking pretty cool.”

On Wednesday of this week Google announced the first Chrome OS laptop called the Cr-48. The device, however, is not available to the general public and is being distributed only to industry insiders and those participating in the Chrome OS Pilot Program.

Google says Acer and Samsung will release the first publicly available Chrome OS devices in the first 6 months of 2011.

So, the coolest brokers on the block may have been sporting iPads in 2010 but Chrome OS is set to be the Beiber of tech in 2011 so get ready.
