People have been paying commission fees on the sale of their home for, well, forever it seems.

But ever since the battle between CREA and the Competition Bureau, discount services for listing your home have been popping up all over the place.

And this one isn’t just discount– it’s commission free. And I can’t imagine a price more right than free.

The newest one was launched online today. According to the Financial Post:

Bytheowner.com, which combines five commission-free real estate companies, went online with a listing of more than 12,000 properties for sale across Canada.

They’ve combined a number of other smaller listing services including ComFree, Skhomes4sale.com, and PrivateRealEstate. Bytheowner.com claims to be the largest commission-free real estate network in Canada. It employs 190 people across Canada and has saved its users $1 billion in commission fees so far.

Commission free listing? Sounds good to me– if I was savvy enough to sell my own home. I think I’d be too afraid of having to deal with some lawsuit by the end. But if you’re willing to do the legwork, this is a pretty cheap option.
