Calgary’s historic Symons Valley Ranch has been sold to Stoneset Equity Development Corp. for 11.072M. The rustic, cowboy-themed ranch will now be converted into a commercial center, new homes and retail shopping for Calgarians.

Symons Valley Ranch started in 1968, and currently includes a BBQ restaurant, campground with RV hookups, and rodeo arena. The facility is often rented to groups.

Interestingly, Symons Valley Ranch also hosts the Canadian Rockies International Rodeo, Canada’s only gay & lesbian rodeo, attracting more than 4,000 participants from across North America.

It seems likely that AGRA, the Alberta Rockies Gay Rodeo Association, will now need a new venue for their rodeo.
