Before I moved from Mississauga to Toronto a few years ago, I remember seeing signs for the Absolute World [map] development at the busy downtown Mississauga intersection of Burnamthorpe and Hurontario and thinking to myself, “There’s no way they’re going to build that here.”
At that point I thought surely if any city in Canada would build such an futuristic, architectural wonder, it would be Toronto. But now, four years later, Absolute World is nearly complete and it looks as if two buildings traveled from the future and landed on this building site.
The development, a collaboration between Cityzen Development Group and Fernbrook Homes, has been a hit in architecture circles and anyone who has been driving out into the western suburbs recently has surely taken notice of these fascinating towers.
It’s a sign of just how much Mississauga’s profile has risen in recent years as not simply a quiet place to raise a family where your kids can play in a big backyard, but as a diverse urban centre with a thriving condo market.
A view from the top.
We can not wait for construction to be complete! I know I’m not the only one looking forward to seeing those two gleaming towers in all their glory rise above the Mississauga skyline.
Let’s have another look at the progress so far, shall we?
Truly a one-of-a-kind design.
Very cool. Congrats to Cityzen and Fernbrook for being so close to completing this awesome development.
