Toronto (Bloor Street) and Montreal (Ste-Catherine Street) are home to Canada’s most expensive retail space, according to Colliers International. The average lease rate of about US$300 per square foot annually is peanuts, according to the report released Monday.

Think Toronto and Montreal are expensive? They don’t compare to other parts of the world where $1,000 per square foot is commanded annually.

Toronto and Montreal were tied for 32nd overall in Colliers’ global rankings, with average lease rates of $294.12.

So, what are the most expensive retail spots?

1. Paris – Champs Élysées – $1,255.90

2. New York – Fifth Avenue – $1,250.00

3. Hong Kong – Russell Street, Causeway Bay – $1,205.46

4. London – Bond Street $1,174.24

5. Milan – Via Monte Napoleone – $929.37

6. Sydney – Pitt Street Mall – $768.85

7. Zurich – Bahnhofstrasse – $727.71

8. London – Oxford Street – $719.70

9. Rome – Rome City Center – $627.95

10. New York – Madison Avenue – $590.0
