We’ve been following what’s going on over at ART Condos [map] for a while now and we think it’s pretty safe to say that it’s not your average condo development.
Apart from all the social media stuff that they’re doing (twitter, facebook and blog) which is pretty outside the box as is, they are also running a photo and video contest (ARTiculate) that is entirely based around the West Queen West community, and not the building itself.
This is admirable all on it’s own, as developer Gary Silverberg really seems to want to promote the area as much as the site. Being an artist himself probably lends a different view on things and it’s quite refreshing to see that he’s exploring other non-traditional avenues.
Just last week, ART hosted an evening with David Suzuki (check out their blog about it here.) in which Mr. Suzuki gave a speech, and stayed around to mingle with guests and sign copies of his various books.

The event was held in aid of the David Suzuki Foundation and was sponsored by Stratus Wines, a Niagara-on-the-Falls based winery that is based around the idea of sustainability.
It’s things like this that impresses us and, in our minds, helps ART to stand out from the crowd even more. Kudos!
