According to the ‘New Housing Price Index‘ by Statistics Canada, the average selling price of new construction homes in Canada was up 1.6% from March 2009 to March 2010.
The biggest jumps in price took place in St. John’s N.L. (5.1%), Winnipeg Man (4.5%) Vancouver BC (4.3%), and London On (4.2%).
Poor Victoria BC took a dive in prices of -4.6%.
Interestingly, while RealNet is reporting an average price increase for new construction homes in Toronto of around 9%, StatsCanada is reporting an increase of only 1.4% year-over-year. Weird. If you have any idea why this may be please let us know as we’re very curious.
