It has nine bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a pool, a hot tub, night-lit tennis court, home theatre and a two-storey guest house. The interior features some personal touches by Mr. Asper including a giant mural in the billiard room that depicts a Wild West bar scene with a sign that says “Izzy’s Bar and Billiards”. Izzy Asper’s Florida mansion for sale
May 19, 2010
Izzy Asper’s Florida mansion is on the market. Asper died in 2003 of natural causes. Previously, Asper had been involved in a botched merger between Conrad Black’s Hollinger and, Asper’s pride and joy, Canwest. Asper’s wife has been using the home at her discretion in the interim.
And it’s not for the everyday buyer. It’s listed at $35-million USD. And what are you getting for that tidy sum?
It is located at 102 Canterbury Lane in Palm Beach Florida. This is where Conrad Black and Asper got the name for their famous botched deal “The Canterbury Tale”. Asper’s son declined comment when asked why the property was put on the market.
Despite it’s sordid tale, there are apparently a few buyers interested in the highly unique property. I wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole, not that I could afford it, but then maybe I’m just superstitious.
