Menkes, the builder of the new Four Seasons Hotel & Private Residences Toronto, is poised to launch a landmark residential address in YorkvillePears on the Avenue Condominiums.

The building will be located at Avenue Road and Davenport Road, and will offer an opportunity to live in the midst of one of Canada’s most coveted neighbourhoods.

Residents will have convenient access to celebrated designer boutiques and shops, fine dining restaurants, galleries, museums and other cultural landmarks. The adjacent Annex community also offers a more relaxed atmosphere with cafés, trendy shops and lush parks, so residents will truly enjoy the best of both worlds at their doorstep.

Classic contemporary architecture by Page + Steele / IBI Group Architects will help set the tone for other developers in the area. The building’s clean, modern exterior will rise to 20 storeys and will feature landscaping by NAK Design Group. Inspired interior design by Munge Leung carries through this architectural aesthetic to the lobby, amenities areas and suite layouts.

“Pears on the Avenue is largely design driven,” says Mansoor Kazerouni, Executive Vice President of Page + Steele / IBI Group Architects. “It references the design-oriented shops in Yorkville. We deliberately set out to create a deliberately clean, modernist silhouette that is distinctive without being gimmicky or trendy. It is elegant and timeless.”

Clad in sleek glass, Pears will be anchored by a three-storey glass-and-stone podium that will enliven the façade with both retail and residential. The signature element of the building is a white steel frame on the north, east and south sides which enhances the verticality of the building on these principal facades. “We continue the frame along the balcony loggias to provide a sense of enclosure, yet allow for beautiful views,” Kazerouni says. “These loggias are an outdoor extension of the living/dining room in most suites, and the master bedrooms in some.”

Amenities designed by Munge Leung include the spa-inspired indoor pool and whirlpool, where residents will be able to swim for fitness, reenergize after a tiring day, or relax in one of the luxurious cabanas. The exercise facility will feature a fully equipped gym and outdoor yoga/meditation deck. Entertaining will be particularly pleasurable in the party room, which will contain a catering kitchen, wet bar and walkout to a landscaped and furnished outdoor terrace – perfect for cocktails or after-dinner drinks. Amenities extend to a sumptuous guest suite, boardroom and screening room.

Located on the crest of the Avenue Road hill, another standout feature of Pears on the Avenue is the sweeping panoramic views. Whether it’s exhilarating views of the downtown Toronto skyline and Lake Ontario, or spectacular vistas of Forest Hill and the Rosedale Valley, every condominium residence here will offer breathtaking sightlines of the city.

Pears will encompass approximately 130 one-bedroom, one-bedroom-plus-den, two-bedroom and two-bedroom-plus-den suites, priced from the mid-$400,000s.

The Pears Presentation Gallery and Model Suite will open this spring, at the southwest corner of Avenue Road and Pears Avenue.
