Take THAT softwood lumber dispute…we’ve got China.

China signed an agreement with Canada and British Columbia today to build a six-storey apartment building from wood to demonstrate wood’s ability to provide affordable, energy-efficient construction with a low carbon footprint.
Forests Minister Pat Bell described the memorandum of understanding as the long-awaited breakthrough into the Chinese housing market that he has been hoping for. Six-storey housing is what most Chinese developers build. It represents 60 to 70 per cent of all residential construction in a country that’s expected to have 10 million housing starts this year. Almost all of that construction uses concrete.
