The price of new houses in Ottawa-Gatineau rose faster in December than in other cities, Statistics Canada said Friday.
Prices rose 0.8 per cent, which was double the average increase across the country, between November and December. New-house prices in Toronto and Vancouver rose 0.7 per cent.
“In Ottawa-Gatineau, the increase in prices was attributable to good market conditions and competitive factors,” Statistics Canada said in the release without elaboration.
From a year earlier, new-home prices across Canada fell 0.9 per cent in December.
