Courtesy of Ripley’s (yes, the same one who brought us Ripley’s Believe it or Not), the city has received a proposal for a massive aquarium at the base of the CN Tower. And it seems unlikely it will be turned down. It’s a great way for the city to stimulate the economy through a massive infrastructure project amidst tough times.

“We’ve always wanted to bring a world-class aquarium to Toronto,” said Ripley spokesperson Tim O’Brien. “This is a great opportunity for us. We love the Canadian market. We feel very confident that we will get over the hurdles we need to overcome and get this project started.” Toronto Star

The proposed size of the aquarium is over 150 000 square feet. The first phase is projected to open in two years. I know I can’t wait to check out some fish. Sweet.
