‘Young & Eligible’ now Yonge & Restless

Yonge and Eglinton has always been a battlefield.

In 1837, rebels killed a loyalist colonel at the corner of Montgomery Ave. and Yonge St., in one of the first shots of the Upper Canada Rebellion.

Almost 200 years later, it’s hard to tell who the rebels are – the developers pushing for highrise condos or the residents trying to preserve the lowrise way of life in the adjacent neighbourhoods.
