As the 2009 TIFF nears, the Festival Tower and Bell LightBox rises! Daniels Corporation and their construction team must be feeling some pressure, or maybe just excitement. Although the project will not be ready for this Year’s Toronto International Film Festival, its progress will surely be an object of lots of attention.

The project was designed by Bruce Kuwabara of Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg Architects. The creators/developers of the project are the Daniels Corporation and the world famous filmmaker Ivan Reitman (Ivan directed Ghostbusters and his son Jason directed Juno). Read Ivan’s wiki bio here.

The completed tower will be 43 floors, 37 stories, and 923 feet tall. It’s located at the corner of King Street and John Street. The base of the residential condo tower will house Bell Lightbox. Bell Lightbox is a $196 million development that will occupy an entire city block and will be the new home for TIFF. Residents of The Festival Tower will be afforded Bell Light Box Privileges such as free year membership, VIP access and more.
