What importance do schools play on your purchasing choice when looking to buy a new home?

I do not have kids, so such information never crossed my mind when I purchased my condominium in downtown Toronto. I had always assumed that Canada is flush with excellent schools, and no matter where I end up, there will be a good school for my future children.

According to the September 2009 issue of Today’s Parent Magazine, Toronto’s Cedarvale Community School received top marks on their annual “Top Schools” list, which recognizes the best elementary and middle schools across Canada.

Having been a student of Cedarvale Community School, reading such a glowing report brought an extra sense of pride to childhood.

Looking to buy a new home off plan? Please drop me a line, and let me know the importance that school-ridings play on your selection process. If there is enough demand, we will start looking into installing a feature on BuzzBuzzHome to take into account such information.

The list is available in the September issue of Today’s Parent magazine, and can be found here.
