Ubisoft is one of the world’s largest publishers and developers of video games – an industry larger and growing much faster than the movie business. Ubisoft Toronto will create about 800 new jobs over the next 10 years and is backed by $763 million in investment from both the Ontario government and Ubisoft.

Should Ubisoft elect to set up shop in or near the downtown core (as opposed to North along the highway), the surrounding neighborhood is in for a treat. Ubisoft is an impressive company staffed by creative and dynamic employees. The studio is sure to attract the attention of tech related entrepreneurs and businesses who may covet locations in close proximity. If Toronto has its own ‘Silicon Valley’, the jury is still out as to where it is, and so the chosen Ubisoft location may add some input into this discussion.
