Wendy Elzner, president of the Barrie and District Association of Realtors, said 572 homes were sold in June. That is the second highest monthly figure ever on the books, and is up 19 per cent over last June.

“A number of buyers who delayed getting into the market late last year and earlier this year are jumping off the fence,” said Elzner. “Buyers recognize the stability of our real estate market, and are taking advantage of excellent affordability.”

Seasonal sales activity in June 2009 rose 69 per cent higher than the recent low from January.

“I’ve checked the numbers for July too, and they’re holding pretty steady. July traditionally is one of our more quieter months because of holidays.”
