A powerhouse coalition of tax-fighting groups, frustrated by double-digit tax increases and “red-tape headaches,” will grade city council’s performance Monday with a report card that is expected to cause a stir at city hall.

“There has been growing frustration all around the city with the direction this council is going,” said Janine Halbesma, acting Alberta director with the Canadian Federation of Independent Business –one of eight groups involved in the coalition.

“So we decided it was time for all of us to work together to let the city know that the taxpayers of Calgary are paying attention.”

The other members of the coalition are the Building Owners and Managers Association, Calgary Chamber of Commerce, Commercial Real Estate Development Association, International Council of Shopping Centres, Retail Council of Canada and Southern Alberta Shopping Centre Association.
