In a flashback to the height of the real estate boom, about 100 people camped outside a Mississauga sales office this week, looking to buy.
The twist: these weren’t million-dollar condo suites, but a cluster of 157 affordable stacked townhouses in the First Home Eglinton West development.
The units were to go on sale at 8 a.m. today near Oscar Peterson Boulevard and Eglinton Avenue West. Some people had waited since May 14 for a unit, which start at $159,999.
“It’s fairly calm, fairly relaxed, quite festive actually,” said Elizabeth Vanewyk, who got in line for a one-bedroom condo on Wednesday.
Like everyone else, she was given a number to mark her place in line, and was expected to stay there.
