According to the Re/Max survey called First-Time Buyers Report 2009, which compared prices in 32 major Canadian centres, “the average Windsor home price has dropped 10 per cent in the last year, from $162,000 to $146,000.”
“An ailing auto industry is in large part responsible for continued downward pressure on housing values in Windsor and the surrounding areas,” says the Re/Max Report. “With prices that are at or near rock bottom, these first-time buyers are taking advantage of current market conditions that make Windsor the country’s most affordable housing market.”
Windsor and Essex County Real Estate is being classified as the best deal around, as far as top Canadian Cities go. Statistics Canada reports new-home prices fell for the first time across the country since 1997, dropping 0.8 per cent in January compared to the previous year.
